What concerns can pediatric chiropractic care address?

Pediatric chiropractic care may address movement concerns, muscle tension, posture-related discomfort, and activity-related strain. A child’s history and exam guide the discussion. Parents can share their concerns during a consultation so the team can decide whether chiropractic care fits the child’s needs.

Pediatric Chiropractic Care for Austell families

Pediatric chiropractic care focuses on concerns that affect how a child moves, rests, plays, or takes part in daily life. Parents may ask about muscle tension, uneven movement, activity-related strain, or discomfort linked to daily habits.

The first decision is whether chiropractic care fits the child’s concern. We review the health history and perform an exam before discussing spinal adjustments, corrective exercises, rehabilitation, or other options. A child with severe symptoms, a major injury, or signs of illness needs medical evaluation first.

  • Share the child’s main concern and when it appears.
  • Bring relevant health information to the new patient intake.
  • Expect a health history and exam before treatment planning.
  • Ask how movement checks relate to the child’s daily activities.
  • Discuss follow-up and wellness maintenance only if they fit the child’s goals.

Service Overview

Pediatric chiropractic care is a hands-on health service that assesses movement and applies age-appropriate chiropractic techniques.

  • It differs from physical therapy because chiropractic care centers on spinal assessment and adjustments, while physical therapy often focuses on exercise, strength, and function.
  • We provide this care for children and families in Austell through our Atlanta-area clinic.

How we approach care for children

Start with the child’s history

The first step is a health history and exam, not a preset treatment choice. We ask what the child feels, when it appears, and how daily activity is affected.

Match care to movement

Movement patterns guide the plan. We may use spinal adjustments, corrective exercises, soft tissue therapy, or rehabilitation based on the assessment.

Know when another service fits

Chiropractic care is not the right first step for severe illness, major trauma, or symptoms that need urgent medical care. We encourage appropriate medical evaluation for those concerns.

Process

How a child’s care plan is developed

1

Review the health history

We begin with a new patient intake that covers the child’s concerns, health history, activity, and family goals.

2

Check movement and comfort

A comprehensive first-visit evaluation reviews movement patterns, muscle tension, and areas linked to discomfort.

3

Use imaging when indicated

Digital or 3D X-ray technology may support the evaluation when clinically indicated.

4

Explain the findings

We discuss the report of findings in plain language and answer parent questions about suitability.

5

Set the treatment plan

The plan may include spinal adjustments, corrective exercises, rehabilitation, massage therapy, or physical therapy.

What children and parents can work toward

A personalized care plan connects treatment choices to the child’s daily needs.

Movement checks give parents a clearer basis for discussing discomfort and activity.

Corrective exercises can support body awareness and movement practice at home.

A careful intake helps the team account for health history, stress, nutrition, and family goals.

Walk-in and same-day appointments are available Monday through Friday from 9 AM to 7 PM.

I’ve always wanted to go to a Chiropractor but never did, however, God has an interesting way of getting our attention and giving us what we need. I was involved in an auto accident and came here for relief and treatment. Dr. Weldon and his staff are patient and very attentive. I was nervous about some things prior to being a patient and they walked me through every step of my treatment. It’s a gradual build to the adjustments, however, trusting the process is a part of the process and I’m excited to experience my final results because I’m beyond pleased so far. Good parking, safe location, clean facility, clean bathrooms, clean waiting area, knowledgeable, cares about you as a person and your healing, and flexible availability.

Dr. Weldon is phenomenal! The staff is courteous and professional. Due to wear and tear from playing sports, I’ve been getting physical therapy and Chiropractic care from different doctors for over 25 years and I don’t know anyone better to work with than Dr. Weldon. He’s extremely knowledgeable, personable, affordable, thorough, and attentive. Most importantly, he’s very aware about what I need done each visit so I can feel my best. He’s highly recommended!

Questions parents ask about pediatric chiropractic care

How can I tell whether this care fits my child?

A health history and movement exam help decide whether chiropractic care fits your child’s concern. The visit looks at reported discomfort, activity, movement, and family goals. Our team then explains suitable options, which may include exercises, rehabilitation, massage therapy, or adjustments. Parents should ask questions before agreeing to a plan.

Which part of the first visit guides the treatment plan?

The health history and exam guide the treatment plan. The evaluation covers the child’s symptoms, movement, activity, and relevant health details. Digital or 3D X-ray technology may support the review when clinically indicated. Parents receive an explanation of the findings before the team discusses adjustments or other care.

When should a child receive medical care before chiropractic treatment?

Severe symptoms, major trauma, or signs of illness call for medical evaluation before chiropractic treatment. Chiropractic care is not a substitute for urgent medical care. Parents should share the full concern during the consultation, including how it began and whether the child has other symptoms. The team can then discuss whether the service is suitable.

Why might corrective exercises be part of a child’s plan?

Corrective exercises give a child guided movement practice that supports the goals identified during the evaluation. They may address movement habits, strength, or coordination within the care plan. Our team explains the purpose of each exercise and considers the child’s comfort. Parents can ask how the exercises fit daily activity and follow-up care.

What changes the cost of a child’s chiropractic visit?

The evaluation needs and services included in the care plan determine the cost. A visit may involve an assessment, imaging when clinically indicated, adjustments, exercises, or rehabilitation. We discuss the recommended services during a consultation and explain the available pricing information. Free consultations are available for prospective patients seeking chiropractic care.
